Commercial Banks
Several Commercial Banks are associated with Enterprise Transitions to facilitate the financing of the emerging business or the contemplated transaction. We work with the client's existing bank, however are able to introduce additional commercial bank resources if needed.

“Integrity, honesty and hard work are the values most important to me in business, and I feel Enterprise Transitions does an excellent job at living up to them.”

As the banking solutions and credit guru working with Enterprise Transitions, Bob Foley, Senior Vice President of Fifth Third Bank, brings thirty years of financial know-how to the organization. With a wealth of knowledge in his field, he offers state-of-the-art solutions to the issues his clients are dealing with. Before his days at Fifth Third, Bob acted as a Regional Manager at PNC Bank.

A graduate degree in banking from the University of Wisconsin helped Bob ascend in the banking industry, and his intellectual and strategic firepower has boosted him to earn honors like membership in the CASE Circle of Excellence for three years (from 2002 through 2007) while working at PNC.

When given the chance to break away from the world of dollars and cents, Bob enjoys serving on the Board of Directors for the Community Human Services Corporation as well as coaching youth basketball and soccer.

Quote: “I want to make sure that Western Pennsylvania is a better place to live for future generations. One of the ways I can do this is by ensuring that businesses can access the proper source and type of financing that they need to grow, acquire, expand or transition to new owners.”

With integrity, a strong work ethic and high energy, Michael Hammond, the Senior Vice President for TriState Capital Bank, has been sharing his expertise with Enterprise Transitions since the summer of 2007. Michael enriches the Enterprises Transitions team with his extensive knowledge of banking and finance, including the uses and structures of senior debt for the acquisition and recapitalization or expansion of privately held businesses. He specializes in advanced ideas regarding pricing, amortization, term, covenants, leverage, structure of borrower and guarantors, and analysis of historical and pro-forma financial information.

With a BA from Grove City College and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, Michael treasures the work he does with ET. By assisting privately owned businesses get the capital they need to grow, Michael plays an essential part in the Enterprise Transitions team. He knows the work he’s doing is important.  “The geographic region from Cleveland through Pittsburgh has one of the highest concentrations of privately held businesses in the country. These organizations need to be transitioned properly over the next ten years to keep the region viable, and Enterprise Transitions can help them accomplish this.”

A man of ideas, Michael’s strengths lie in analysis and innovation. Not only can he drive original thinking forward, but he can also listen to all sides and determine who has the best ideas in the group. As Michael says, “If you’re sitting in a group and everyone is always agreeing, someone’s not thinking.”

Michael clearly sees the value Enterprise Transitions offers when collaborating with clients. “The business owners that we work with are very good at running their businesses, but once or twice in their careers they need help with growth and expansion.” With his dynamic style and rich experience, Michael is the financial guru Enterprise Transition’s clients are looking for.

“Enterprise Transitions brings together in one resource all the growth and exiting tools a client may need in the life cycle of their business. Our clients don’t have to go out and search for all the different pieces in several places; we provide everything they need in one stop.”

After earning a BA in Business Administration and Accounting from Grove City College, as well as her CPA certification, Adrien King began working for Touche Ross & Company, Mellon Bank, and Arthur Anderson before joining the family insurance business. She spent over 20 years with Morell, Butz and Junker and earned the designation of CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor).

Adrien holds nothing in business higher than ethics. This attitude extends not only to her own professional behavior, but to those she chooses to work with. This priority is one of the reasons she makes an excellent partner in the Enterprise Transitions project. Not only does Adrien contribute expertise in the insurance realm, top negotiating skills and a fierce work ethic, but her commitment to excellence and integrity dovetails perfectly with the Enterprise Transitions ethos. Doing well by doing right is a crucial dynamic in the work we do.

Within the group, Adrien enjoys the “professionalism of the people and the comfort of knowing that, when I have a client with a variety of needs, I can pass the ball off to anyone in Enterprise Transitions with confidence. I always know that they will get the work done properly and I won’t have to check-up on them.”

Adrien feels the assistance the Enterprise Transitions alliance provides is essential in helping protect companies and business owners in a creative, entrepreneurial and driven environment. Transitions can be complex, and Adrien appreciates the comprehensive solutions she and her colleagues are able to provide. By always remaining sensitive to what a client truly needs and leaving unnecessary tactics or services by the wayside, Adrien and Enterprise Transitions serve with the integrity and effectiveness so vital to the process. Adrien is proud of the innovative, future-focused work that she does with Enterprise Transitions and feels comfortable knowing that she is doing the very best for her clients.

Business Strategy & Marketing

“As boomers begin to exit their businesses, there will be more and more of a need for expertise in this area.  Enterprise Transitions is perfectly suited to be a catalyst for strategic exits, enabling clients to gain momentum from a transition rather than being depleted by it.”

Co-founder, Managing Partner and CEO of JDAnthony, Rick Cancelliere was instrumental in leading the agency to focus on becoming the interactive marketing specialist for the medical industry. While earning his degree, Rick helped found the University of Pittsburgh’s Entrepreneur’s Society, and in 2006 he was named Small Business Administration’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the District of Pittsburgh and the State of Pennsylvania.

Unlike typical agencies, JDAnthony functions as an extension of a company’s senior-management team, with multilevel involvement in both strategic and tactical operations. The edge JD Anthony provides allows executives to move more quickly to reach the new level of performance their situation demands. Prior to JDAnthony, Rick was a consultant for the Maxim Group and was also involved in other medical and technology start-ups.

Rick believes firmly that people learn through three main channels: books, experience and travel. So, naturally, Rick makes it a point to travel abroad at least once a year and has visited every continent except Antarctica. While on his travels, he loves becoming immersed in different cultures and rejuvenating himself with new ideas and philosophies.

Rick is proud of the advocacy that Enterprise Transitions builds for its client companies. He lends his extensive knowledge of business strategy, design, and marketing to the Enterprise Transitions project and feels that these elements are essential to companies in transition.

Though one would think being the Principal and Creative Director at JDAnthony as well as a member of Enterprise Transitions would keep him busy enough, in his spare time Rick is on the Boards of PYP, the Rivers Club Young Executives and New Pittsburgh Collaborative.

“Enterprise Transitions is the A-Team. We excel across the board, no matter what the discipline. This organization is truly ahead of its time.”

Liz DeWitt, partner and lead strategist at JDAnthony, began her career nearly twenty years ago in the advertising industry. Liz has since headed account-management functions for several advertising agencies, both smaller, boutique creative shops and large national agencies. She is certain that open communication is critical to success and uses her talents as a communicator to transmit complex and innovative ideas with ease.  As a “big-ideas” person, it’s no wonder many of her campaigns have won awards and achieved long-term marketplace success. With the planning skills and energy needed to help clients achieve ambitious marketing objectives, Liz tracks strategic-planning success in terms of how well the client’s marketing objectives are met.

When not coming up with the next big idea or spending time with her beloved dog, Musha, Liz has acted as a Board Member/Education Chair for the Pittsburgh Advertising Federation for over nine years. Through this program, she has created and implemented a student scholarship program that is funding outstanding students entering the field of advertising. Liz is also affiliated with PowerLink, a nonprofit organization that advances growth-stage women-owned businesses. She serves as the marketing expert on the Advisory Panel, a group comprised of business professionals who volunteer their time to help women business owners gain a new perspective on strategy, profitability, operations, capital, sales and other issues critical to success.

Liz, who earned her degree in English from the University of Pittsburgh, is always strategic and laser-focused in setting and meeting the objectives of her clients. Her forthright attitude, energy and ability to cut right to the chase make her a favorite among clients as they work together to overcome challenges.

“This group is ‘by invitation only.’ Each member’s entrée is based in part on high-level expertise, but also on a shared commitment to do what is best for our clients. Our clients are empowered to define, articulate and achieve what ‘success’ means for them, as well as for their successors, employees and stakeholders.  Whether it’s financial or insurance guidance, legal or marketing strategies -- we help them to reclaim and re-focus their power in order to shape their own destiny.”

Transition Coaches
We believe that everyone can benefit enormously from professional coaching so much so that we have assembled several of the premiere coaches with national and international experience for our clients. During the "transition" phases, we are glad to introduce our clients to our coaching resources for consideration.

“Transition is a part of growing a business, and Enterprise Transitions combines a team so high up in their level of expertise that their forward thinking allows them to be successful in assisting companies in their transitions.”

As an Executive Leadership Coach, Brenda Smith’s big-picture thinking, perseverance and networking skills make her an indispensable part of Enterprise Transitions. There she coaches entrepreneurs, CEOs and business leaders through financial liquidity events and other circumstances that have both a financial and emotional impact. Drawing upon nearly two decades as a Wall Street Executive with P&L responsibility, she understands both the business and behavioral dynamics of emotional intelligence in the workplace.  Her dynamic coaching moves business leaders towards their goals with increased power and resolution.

With a B.S. in Mass Communications from Boston University and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from New York University, Brenda has been a professor of Professional Intelligence at Carnegie Mellon University, as well as an advisor at EMC’s PowerLink. But her crowning achievement was founding Peoplesmith Global and Peoplesmith Financial, a capital coaching arm that supports the velocity of money – securing it, raising it or receiving and the emotional impact of major business and life transitions. Peoplesmith has assembled a group of expert coaches and manages coaching programs for organizations to accelerate strategic change in organizations.  Through individual and group coaching programs, Brenda and her colleagues champion individual capacity to align power, potency and potential using emotional intelligence for purposeful action and meaningful contribution in organizations.

Coining the term "emotional economics," Brenda understands that, just as the market goes up on positive sentiment, business outcomes hinge on the positive impact leaders have to inspire high-performing teams deployed to drive business results.

Brenda is proud to be a member of Enterprise Transitions, a group that embodies her values of honesty and integrity. She has been a part of the Enterprise Transitions family since 2006.

“Enterprise Transitions is a unique blend of professionals truly committed to assisting clients with the successful completion of their business endeavors. Together, we get the job done.”

Emotions are a natural part of our response process in virtually every situation we encounter.  Whether preparing to buy, sell or make the “right” decision about our business, we deal with emotions, no matter how tactical, strategic or logical our decisions must be. Since all our emotional responses are based on chemical reactions in our body and conditioned by the past, dealing with emotions in a way that empowers us can be tricky business.  Instead of reacting to situations happening right now, our bodies are reminded of similar situations from the past and react accordingly.   The “emotional baggage” associated with events from our past often triggers us when making important business decisions.
